For Sara

So one of the perks of moving out of state is that when I do come home for a visit, I get really good quality time with those that I love the most. Like getting to wake up in my parents house, and having countless lunches and shopping trips with my sister, and hanging out with my best friend. In fact, when I come to town, my sweetie makes sure that she and I get to go away for 24 hours, just the two of us. So this is for Sara......(I know, I said your name, EEeeeK!) Since it was just after Christmas, we had some returns to deal with, but we tag teamed it and so it went fast.....but after Target, Costco, In and Out Burger (oh my sweet Jesus, thank you for In and Out Burger), one mall, hotel room, second mall, dinner take out from PF Changs (oh my sweet Jesus, thank you for PF changs, too!), dinner and a beer and a movie in the hotel room, and wake up and go to the third mall (yes, we like to shop)....we were plum tuckered out and not missing our kids AT ALL! But alas it was time to go. (is alas a word? did I use it correctly?...whatever) So, thanks for the fun, the laughs, the talks and thanks for tattling on me to my sweetie that I bought three pairs of shoes and two purses!!!!! Geeze! I miss you.

French Toast

One of my most fondest memories of growing up was the music that would be blaring and wake me up on Sunday mornings. The Statler Brothers...does anyone know of these guys???.....They are horrible and as a teenager I was always rolling my eyes and pleading with my Dad to PLEASE turn it off, and PLEASE stop singing along with them, and, oh my goodness, PLEASE stop dancing. But this, of course, just encouraged him more. I know, one would wonder why this is now one of my fondest memories, but I'm a little backwards that way. Anyway, as we played our UNO game last night, I announced that I wanted Daddy's french toast and Statler Brothers playing in the background when I got up in the morning. (I've become very demanding since I moved)....so this is what I woke up to this morning. Laying in the very comfy bed in my old bedroom at my parents house, trying to pretend that I was still sleeping and hearing the gentle whirl of the whisk in eggs and milk, I bounded out of bed and headed for the kitchen. YUP! There he was, baggy sweats, horrible bed head (and he can really pull off the bed head, people, big time!) He's fryin' up the bacon and french toast in the SAME PAN! YUM! and on the CD player is not the statler brothers, but something even better....Marty Robbins, greatest hits....oh yeah, baby, it's good! I was in hog heaven, to quote my dad. My only regret is that I was too hungry to even remember the camera to capture the sight for all two of my readers. :o) So sorry. Gotta go now, need to scrub the syrup from my chin and look decent for church, that's going to take awhile.

this is me, my mom and my boys at Disneyland, we had such a great time....my sweetie was there......we just needed him to take the picture.

this is my blog

I have to apologize for this blog, you see I've been a blogger stalker for months now. I have a list of blogs that I check everyday and love these people. Some I know in person others are total strangers that I have just happened upon. Anyway, I've wanted for sometime to start a blog and even find myself going through my day thinking in blog. But now, after starting my own, I can't think of one single thing to blog about.....what's up with that??? I'm still inspired and encouraged by these other bloggers and now realize that I may not be that interesting. But isn't that what all you others felt like before???

Actually I have a really important reason for blogging. I grew up in California and just over a year ago, my husband and I uprooted and moved our little family to North Carolina. So we are 3000 miles from both our families, our friends and our home church. So I'm thinking that a blog is a good way for my family members to keep up with my goings on. It keeps the grandparents happy, basically.

So, we're actually in California, for two weeks, visiting our family. Christmas has been special, and we've been able to have lots of relaxation. Staying at my parents house is like staying at the best bed and breakfast EVER! Nice bed linens, room in the closet and dresser, a well stocked bathroom, comfy beds for the kids, chocolates on the pillows every night, free babysitting and the best part.....FOOD....Mom's home cookin'!!!! It doesn't get any better than this! I did get the stink eye one morning, I tried ringing a bell for breakfast while still in bed. That didn't work at all. Whatever!

So far we've enjoyed the sunny skies and big mountain views. We actually dragged my mom to Disneyland and it wasn't crowded at all. Been shopping with my neice and sister. Looking forward to a day out with my best friend and a night away with my sweetie. I'll be trying to soak up as much of the good life before we have to head home on New Year's Day and get back to taking down the Christmas decorations and schoolin' the boys.

So for now, my life is not very exciting. Hopefully, this will get more exciting. :o)

I'm new to this, so please bear with me. Thank you Heidi! You're a good teacher, I came right home and got 'er done! I promise I'll get more creative later, for now, I'm off to take a nap. Still struggling with jet lag. :o)
